In terms of our relationship, the apostle Paul by inspiration writes, “In honor preferring one another” (Rom. 12:10b). Furthermore, he says, “Let nothing be done through strife or vain glory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves” (Phil. 2:3). The Navy Seals, an elite special operations force, serves as an excellent example of this biblical concept. Reading the creed of this highly trained group sounds very similar to the expectation Jesus has of his soldiers (2 Timothy 2:2-32 Timothy 2:2-3

Though there exists a certain structure of command in the Navy Seals from the Commander on down, this elite group has as one of its core beliefs a high respect for each person on the team. Though there is an organized ranking system, it is ultimately rather unimportant. Every Individual is seen as crucial and is held in high esteem. An error by any one person on the team could mean certain death. It is the mission that is the focus within this group, not rank. May we learn from the words of the apostle Paul and from this specially trained group of people that help to protect our nation to be those that honor and highly esteem one another.
